Our Divisions

MCG Civil Engineering

Civil engineering and infrastructure works form the foundation of every functioning community — from township infrastructure to bulk services and municipal engineering.

Division overview

What we do

MCG Civil Engineering addresses the enabling infrastructure that allows buildings and communities to function. Our services cover site preparation, roads, drainage and municipal service packages. The division's planning emphasis is on ground conditions, utility interfaces, network capacity and construction access, because these factors can materially affect both the works and the development that depends on them.

We undertake small projects as well as larger construction packages. Each appointment defines the scope, delivery resources and specialist responsibilities. Professional registrations and certifications are verified where required; service descriptions do not imply a particular accreditation or completed project.

Services in detail

Service 01

Roads, access and associated structures

Road and access works are defined around the approved alignment, pavement requirements, drainage and connections to existing infrastructure. Planning considers public access, traffic management and the sequence of utility crossings. Bridge or associated structural works would only be considered after the engineering requirements and specialist delivery arrangements have been assessed.

  • Development access and road construction packages
  • Pavement, kerb and drainage interfaces
  • Bridge and associated structural scopes subject to review

Scope considerations: Traffic arrangements, structural design and road-owner approvals must be confirmed for each project.

Service 02

Bulk earthworks and site preparation

Site preparation begins with reliable survey and ground information. An earthworks package establishes cut-and-fill quantities, formation levels, material suitability and the logistics of moving or disposing of material. Phasing would need to account for weather, erosion control and the handover of prepared areas to following contractors.

  • Clearing and defined site-preparation works
  • Bulk excavation, fill and formation packages
  • Compaction checks and formation handover

Scope considerations: Geotechnical investigations, contaminated ground, rock excavation and material sources require specific allocation of risk and approvals.

Service 03

Stormwater, sewer and water networks

Our services include defined drainage and underground service packages serving developments and municipal infrastructure. Coordination focuses on routes, gradients, connection points, crossings and the inspection or testing requirements of the network owner. Existing service information should be verified before excavation, and connections planned to avoid unapproved interruption of live networks.

  • Stormwater drainage and attenuation interfaces
  • Sewer and water-service construction packages
  • Testing coordination and service records

Scope considerations: Network capacity, tie-ins, discharge permissions and commissioning responsibilities depend on approved designs and authority requirements.

Service 04

Township and municipal infrastructure coordination

Multi-service developments require a coordinated programme rather than isolated work packages. Our services align road, drainage and utility sequences with building phases, identifying the infrastructure required before each phase can operate. The scope could be an individual package or agreed coordination role, not an assumed responsibility for an entire municipal programme.

  • Infrastructure package and interface planning
  • Sequencing with buildings and public spaces
  • Phase completion and network-owner handover

Scope considerations: Off-site works, municipal obligations and the full development scope must be expressly included in the appointment.

Delivery approach

Our sequence starts with survey, geotechnical and existing-service information, followed by package definition and approval checks. Construction planning identifies temporary works, traffic and access arrangements, inspection points and environmental controls. Changes in ground conditions or service locations should be escalated through agreed procedures.

Completion and handover

A civil package should close out with agreed test results, surveyed records, outstanding-work lists and network-owner acceptance where required. The appointment defines who is responsible for final connections, maintenance periods and the transfer of infrastructure to the receiving authority.
