Our Divisions

MCG Buildings

We undertake small building projects, renovations, alterations and fit-outs alongside residential developments, commercial buildings, shopping centres, offices, educational facilities and mixed-use properties. Each project receives a defined scope and a delivery approach suited to its size and complexity.

Division overview

What we do

MCG Buildings focuses on the spaces in which people live, work, learn and receive essential services. The division brings building packages, construction planning and coordination together, with attention to the relationship between structure, finishes, building services and the surrounding site. We assess each opportunity against its design maturity, commercial terms, programme, available delivery resources and statutory requirements before an appointment is accepted.

We undertake small projects as well as larger construction packages. Each appointment defines the scope, delivery resources and specialist responsibilities. Professional registrations and certifications are verified where required; service descriptions do not imply a particular accreditation or completed project.

Services in detail

Service 01

Residential and mixed-use construction

Our scope includes apartment buildings and developments that combine homes with shops, offices or community facilities. Planning considers shared access, service connections, construction sequencing and the interfaces between different uses. The objective is to translate an approved design into clearly defined work packages, rather than assume a standard solution is suitable for every site.

  • Residential structures, envelopes and finishes
  • Interfaces between residential and commercial areas
  • Common areas, circulation and external works

Scope considerations: Unit numbers, specifications and the final construction role depend on approved designs, feasibility and appointment.

Service 02

Commercial, retail and hospitality buildings

Offices, shopping facilities and hospitality developments require careful alignment of the building shell, tenant requirements and operational needs. Our services address construction logistics, contractor interfaces and the sequencing of finishes and services. Early clarification of tenant works can reduce gaps between the base building and the spaces intended for occupation.

  • Office and retail building packages
  • Hotel and hospitality construction scopes
  • Shell-and-core and tenant fit-out coordination

Scope considerations: Specialist fit-outs, operator standards and equipment supply must be separately defined and agreed.

Service 03

Healthcare, education and institutional facilities

Public-facing buildings need a delivery approach that recognises accessibility, durability and the continuity of essential services. Construction packages are developed with the appointed design team and client representatives, identifying access restrictions, specialist installations and inspection requirements before works begin. Work in occupied environments would require a specific phasing and protection plan.

  • Educational and institutional building works
  • Healthcare building and services interfaces
  • Accessible circulation and public-use spaces

Scope considerations: Clinical equipment, specialist certification and regulated design services remain with appropriately appointed specialists.

Service 04

Refurbishment, alterations and fit-outs

Where a project calls for adapting an existing property, the starting point is understanding its condition and the limits of the proposed intervention. A defined refurbishment scope considers surveys, existing services, occupied-site logistics and the sequence of demolition and replacement works. We also undertake small renovations, repairs, alterations and fit-outs, with a condition assessment and clearly agreed responsibilities for hidden defects.

  • Defined refurbishment and alteration packages
  • Interior finishes and services coordination
  • Phased works and completion documentation

Scope considerations: Structural assessments, hazardous materials and existing-building compliance require specialist review where applicable.

Delivery approach

A building project moves from a clarified brief and design responsibility schedule into package planning, procurement, mobilisation and construction. Inspection points, design queries and changes should be recorded throughout delivery. Our approach gives the client visibility of interfaces and decisions before they affect work on site.

Completion and handover

Completion planning identifies inspections, outstanding items, applicable certificates, operating information and as-built records. Occupation and use remain subject to the required authority approvals; practical completion is not a substitute for those approvals.
